If you have any questions about how to fix your house just ask.
If you don't feel comfortable doing this type of work, don't do it, but look over the area of your intrest so you have an idea what you are asking someone to do and will have a better idea if they should do it for you and have not just ripped you off.

Most houses have basic pieces that make them up . Starting at the bottom you have a Footer that holds up the Foundation walls that often surround the Concrete Floor in the Basement , which often has many devices that should be understood like the n/a/Furnace and Water Heater, and other Plumbing like the Main Water Shutoff and the little known items like the Pressure Regulator Outside Faucets Shutoffs ,  and Doorbell Transformer Telephones and Who Knows What else .
Often these items are hidden in the n/a/Floor Joists that holds up the n/a/Sub Floor which can have Various Surfaces applied to it .
The n/a/Floors or Foundations also hold up the Walls that are made in different ways depending on where when and why they were built . some are Plaster . The Walls then hold up the Ceiling which may be a n/a/Floor for those above who also need a n/a/Roof to keep you dry while you take a n/a/Bath before drying in front of the Fireplace after Switching on the Lights that use the Wiring That runs the Light in the n/a/Gas Stove in the n/a/Kitchen with it's n/a/myriad of items used to prepare food from the Refrigerator and the n/a/Garden where n/a/Walkways and n/a/Ornaments  look marvelous through the n/a/Windows in Your Doors  but don't look marvelous through the skylights in Your n/a/Roof  .
