Loose screws are the main adjustment for doors whether it's the
hinge , the strike plate or the knob they should all be tight ,
but
sometimes the holes have worn and they need to be filled for the
screw to gain a bite .
This is easily done with a kitchen match or two and some glue .
Just put a drop of glue on the match , slip it in the hole and
break it off , then put the screw back in . On the hinges and
strike plate it is sometimes nice to replace one screw with a
longer
one that will reach into the wall stud . If the door is split you
may need to inject the glue into the crack and clamp it .
If a panel is missing you may need to
replace the door
or get creative . If the house has settled you may need to
cut or plane the door
.
